How to legit check Stone Island.

As we, tomvintage, are very experienced in legitchecking designer items we thought, why not share it with you guys? So if you ever buy Stone Island outside of tomvintage (why would you do this??) you can legit check it this way:

HOW TO LEGIT CHECK STONE ISLAND

As Stone Island became a really popular designer brand, fakes started popping up. The first fake Stone Island items were easy to spot, really bad compass logo's and awful badges. But over time with the hype in rep designer items, the quality has improved and now it can be more difficult than ever to spot a fake.

CHECK ITEMS FROM THE CERTILOGO ERA

In 2014 Stone Island dropped a authenticity service called "Certilogo", this has saved our lifes with the newer pieces, that are now, relatively easy to check on authenticity.

This above is what we call a certilogo, a QR code and a CLG code. All you need to do is go to www.certilogo.com you will first get asked to fill in the CLG code, after that you get asked if you're checking before or after purchase, doesnt really care what you select but for the ease just select after.

After selecting after purchase, you will then be asked where you found the product: online, in-store or as a gift? Select as a gift, this is just the easiest as you wont get questions about where you bought it.

Now all you have to do is upload a picture of the qr code (so make sure people send pictures of them before purchase). It will load and gather information and you will see the result: Authentic, Fake or Anomalies. Anomalies means that it either could be fake or the certilogo has been scanned too much and Stone Island doesnt know if the code has been copied or just been scanned too much. Because of this we also have more ways to check the authenticity.

GET THE BADGE IN (check the badge bro)

Always make sure to check the front and back of the arm badge if the item has any. Some of the fake ones are really shitty and so easy to spot fakes. The badge wont tell its legit 100% as people sell real badges, so some fakes will have real badges on it. Just make sure that the letters on the badge are all the same heigth and font and not that one is really weird or against an edge. Look below for a real vs a fake badge.

How To Spot Fake Stone Island?

DO ALL ITEMS HAVE A CERTILOGO?

No, only the items after 2014 have a certilogo, as this got implemented in the summer of 2014. So how do i know if my item is from before or after 2014???!! Dont worry bro, you just need to have a look at the article number on the wash label. Any article number that begins with 60 or higher should have a certilogo. Example of a article number below:

A lot of retailers cut out certilogo's of authentic items because they didnt want to spoil their suppliers. This makes it annoying to legitcheck pieces, so if you are not experienced we would suggest you to NOT buy pieces without tags, no matter the story of sellers (unless its a big authentic designer shop like tomvintage, jk but you get it).

CHECK THE ARTICLE NUMBER

If you type in the article number on google you should be able to find the same model of the item you are trying to buy. If not: this is suspicious. Its only about the model not the colourway or whatever so dont worry about that.

The infamous art number ending in 222. A lot of fake Stone Island jackets got made with article numbers ending in 222, so keep ur eye out on that. If you see 222 RUN AWAY.

WHAT CAN ARTICLE NUMBERS TELL YOU?

If you want to check from what year your item is and more you also need to have a look at the article number. The article number is EVERYTHING.

THE FIRST 2 NUMBERS:

The first 2 numbers of the article number will tell you from what year this piece is. I will add a list below to see. Odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9) will tell you that the item is from the Autumn Winter of that year. While even numbers (2,4,6,8,0) will show you that its from the Spring Summer of that year.

So for example we take the article number of 2 pictures up, 531550MA3: number 53, this will tell you that the item is from the Autumn Winter of 2010. This is just really fun to know to see how old your item is.

THE SECOND 2 NUMBERS:

The next 2 numbers will show you from what Stone Island line this item is, we will list them below.

- 15: Main Line Stone Island. So any normal badge, special process or ghost piece.
- 19: Shadow Project Line from Stoney. Any item that has a Shadow Project Badge.
- 25: Special edition. This is mostly collabs like Nike and Supreme.
- 16: Stone Island junior collection
- 14: Stone Island denims collection (no badge).
- 18: CP Company. But this is only for pieces before 2000s
- 65 / 28: Stone Island employee store or made for outlet pieces.

So if you take a look at our article number above: 531550MA3, this will be a main line Stone Island piece.

THE 5TH DIGIT:

The 5th digit will tell you what type of item it is, so the category. Take a look at the list below.

- 1: Shirt or overshirt
- 2: T-shirt
- 3: Trousers and pants
- 4: Jackets/Coats
- 5: Hoodies
- 6: Sweaters and pullovers
- 7: Long Jackets/Trench Coats
- G: Gilets/Bodywarmers
- Q: Coat/Jacket

So if you take a look at our article number again: 531550MA3, this will be a hoodie as the 5th digit is a 5. As you can see this was the item we have been checking without certilogo:

If its missing any or some of them look sus, just skip it as their are more fishes in the sea. Rather be save than sorry.
